CHEEKY SPANKS
From 2004 until 2012, I had the opportunity to play in Cheeky Spanks. The band, with it's variety of personnel over the years had been playing the Monterey music scene since the 1970s. We figured that 30 different musicians had done a stint with the band over the years.
The band's longest running member was Jill Childers, who sang lead vocals, played harmonica and acoustic guitar. In the 8 years that I played with the band, we consisted of Jill, John Sherry on lead guitar and vocals, Kirk Edwards on drums, and yours truly on vocals and bass. During our run of Cheeky Spanks, we recorded two albums, played A LOT of gigs, and won BEST BAND in Monterey County twice. John Sherry also won BEST MUSICIAN honors multiple times.
