Behind the Music
"May the Lord Bless Your Day"soundcloud.com/jimmy-rossi/may-the-lord-bless-your-day ... I wrote this song in January of 2012, right after I had completed a weekend youth retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains with our Confirmation kids. We had finished an incredible two days of prayer, meditation, and song and I was all fired up. While driving home through the mountains, I was inspired to write a song that Mike and I could sing as a sending forth blessing for the kids at the end of a retreat, mission, workshop, etc. The next day I sat at the piano and the song pretty much wrote itself.
"In You is Good" ... After my friends David and Christa Balch lost their 4 year old son Sebastian to a drunk driver in a car accident, I wrote a number of songs that were inspired by their loss. As I witnessed David and Christa's incredible faith in God, along with their willingness to forgive the drunk driver who caused the accident, I wrote this song. When Mike, Christa, David, and I would be together planning Missions, rehearsing songs, or praying, I would feel blessed to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of good Christian people. Once again, this song just kind of wrote itself. The song also conveys my own personal philosophy in life. I often ask myself, "Am I a good husband? A good father? A good brother? A good friend? A good person? A good Christian? Am I living my life like Jesus?"
